Preservation Projects:

Structures of importance and historic areas would be the subjects for this category. Work would consist mainly of weatherproofing and preserving the structure or area in a safe, presentable state with only minimal and essential work.

  1. Walls of Limerick at St. John’s Hospital: cleaned the wall, and made good defective areas.
  2. Verdant Place: a reclamation and landscaping project.
  3. Preservation work at Bourke House: repaired and preserved remaining stone wall.
  4. Maintenance of 1916 Memorial site.
  5. Quaker Burial Ground: A clean up and maintenance project.
  6. The Black Battery site: cleaned and landscaped its environs.
  7. Jewish Burial Ground: Fully landscaped and maintained on an ongoing basis.
  8. Preservation of a stone arch doorway at Chapel Lane.
  9. Walls of Limerick at Mungret Gate: extensive work at the city walls and environs.
  10. The Citadel: internal survey and initial clearance.
  11. Lock Quay: remedial work at the Brick Bridge and traditional features. Developed a landscaped amenity on the Quay’s.
  12. The Peoples Park structures: restored the drinking fountain and one shelter to-date.
  13. St. Munchins Church (C. of I.) Bell Tower: a total preservation of its pinnacles, stonework and windows.
  14. 14. The Curio Wall at the Bishops Palace: built with salvaged inscribed,  
    decorative and old stone.
  15. Peoples Park Kiosk: Restore and refurbished this well known Limerick Landmark.
  16. Bedford Row Church: Restored a front façade window from the 1821 Methodist Church, designed by James Pain.
  17. St. John's Parish Drining Fountain: A total refurbishment of this monument.
  18. The Abbey Wall: This medieval wall, off Mary Street, was fully preserved, replacing modern infill and innappriopriate pointing with approval conservation materials.
  19. The Excahnge Wall: Remove the intrusive vegetation off the wall and repaired structural defects.
